We too probably think she is just a mainstream loli, how mistaken can one be. She is first introduced as a cute doll faced girl whom killua finds annoying instantly. This is probably her way of showing emotions or more likely gratitude. She is impressed by them and transfers these memories too intentionally along with the others as to cause them no harm. This was one of my favourite scenes in the anime.
That's when gon and killua reply " He is our friend we care about him, we don't want him to be a murderer, if an exchange will do the job then that's what we will do". When she was headed to fulfil kurapikas demands in exchange for their leader she asks gon and killua why they won't run away, by doing so she won't have any leverage and kurapika will eventually kill their leader. Pakunoda has a pretty flat emotionless face but she does show her share of emotions even though its subtle. Which means they believe in her that she is strong and trusts her decisions. That is when nobunaga(another phantom troupe member) says "Be quiet, it is paku, we can trust her". When pakunoda was about to shoot her bullet memories into the founding members of of the troupe, she asks them to trust her, a few start to argue. She is loyal to chrollo and was even willing to sacrifice her life for that cause. Pakunoda a member of the phantom troupe, has sharp pointed nose with an odd looking face and yet chooses to dress in a sexually confident way.Īt first she might not seem to have any particular abilities but over time her abilities are totally unquestionable. No matter what we think about her at first look she ends up being both likeable and competent. She is kind most of the time, unbelievably calm in even the worst circumstances and most importantly has a calm and soothing voice. Yeah of course she is not the best fighter but she has her ways. It's hard to find a negative quality trait about melody. But no she was that friend who could provide emotional support when kurapika lost his stability. Not a very pleasing sight is it but she has this amazing ability to calm people with music hence the name melody and not only that she is able calm people, she actually is able to listen to the tiniest sounds like a heart beat.įor all we know she could easily have been scripted as the beautiful love interest of kurapika who clams the rage in him. So when we first witness melody we look at a short and stocky person with blading head teeth protruding outwards, fully clothed except for the palms. Consider this a spoiler warning and go watch the anime if you haven't because you won't regret it. So there will be a few ladies I will be talking about, their looks, personality and development and how it's unique. The real beauty is how they get developed into really meaningful characters with extraordinary depth and end up being liked and even respected in some cases even at first look they might not be very appealing. Some women in the anime are even far from beautiful and even disfigured. In contrast, certain women in Hunter x Hunter at first look may also be mistaken for men (as do certain men who are mistaken for women in the anime), may be togashi has a thing for gender ambiguity. But that's not the only thing which defines them. It's nothing wrong to focus on the sexuality of women after all women do have sexuality and it's a major part of their lives. What is rare to find is a female character with more depth and meaning. Both purely based on a woman's sexuality. It is not uncommon for a shonen to use women solely as love interests or as an eye candy in other words "fan service".
The reason I am making this blog is that I was intrigued by the ability of Togashi to think of out of the box female characters.
